This could be perceived as a Gents’ Distribution Board, until you open the unit and find that there’s nothing to handle the distributing!!!.

The idea is because the main clock and distribution board would not be frequently checked. These boards would be put in an area where they could easily be seen . Possibly In a corridor or walkway . Each clock would be monitoring a specific area or even different floors. It would then be obvious to anyone if there was a problem if one clock stopped or gave the wrong time.
