Overview
I haven’t seen many of these around (actually none!), and then three popped up on eBay from a personal collection. I reached out to the seller who noted that the owner worked in the Leicester Royal Infirmary for many years and was also a keen railway enthusiast. So these wooden dials may have been originally installed in a board room or c-suite office rooms I guess, as they have a less industrial look.
Excerpt from Gents Catalogue Book 5. Section 1Q. 1940-1941 Edition:
Case of quartered Walnut, Ebony Wings, raised Arabic chapters and hands of design shown, either Ivory white or Chrome.
In this case the dial and hands are black!
