    C36

I bought this from auction in Cyprus. The C36 has a 1-second impulse dial, these don’t come up very often, typically they were from the BBC where a second hand was used.

I learnt the hard-way here, I thought it was a bargain to have it shipped from £26….never have an auction house pack and post an item, they didn’t even pack the item in a box, when it arrived the glass and the outer case was smashed to pieces. !! See photos.

Since then I’ve been piecing together the items and painting the case. More to follow on this restoration when completed.

  1. Hi Simon, what a mess! Looks like they received the cash and couldn’t be bothered fulfilling their side of the contract. Lucky you received it at all. New case I presume? I’m lucky as I have a tame glazier close by that supplied glass for a 14″ Standard Time Co Ltd dial recently for £10 and that’s a West London price. Have you tested/run the dial yet? Best method is to buy an impulse kit and mains supply from Mark at

The 1 sec movement dials are rare and I have the slightly less rare 11″ version – see link.

One has recently sold on eBay for £346 and a second from the same seller on at £375 – great prices if you have one and a suitably deep pocketed buyer!

    • Hey Paul, not a new case, pieced together with glue and Milliput (wonderful stuff). Lots of sanding and sprayed. It still needs some tidying up but is quite rewarding, thankfully none of the front rim was damaged!

I have it part working but like you say it runs one a different current I think (40ma and .50 Omhs???) What do you think, doesn’t sound right to me (see picture below), so need to figure that out. I’ll take a look at the electric parts you mentioned. Your version looks very nice.! The movement is exactly the same!

Yes I’ve seen those two clocks on eBay. £345!!!

      All the best
      Simon

    • The 1-second dial should work with the Distribution Board and x2 Master Clock with modified 1-second hand components, I need to steal the time to get that tested!!
